OUR FARMING PRACTICES
Trace the milestones that have shaped NewGen Foods into a leader in the agribusiness sector.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
At NewGen Foods Ltd, sustainable agriculture is at the heart of our operations. We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to control pests through a combination of natural and mechanical methods, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. This approach not only protects our produce but also contributes to maintaining a balanced ecosystem, reducing the environmental footprint of our operations, aligning with GEPA’s emphasis on the application of eco-friendly and sustainable farming techniques.
Crop Rotation and Polyculture
Our crop rotation and polyculture methods maintain soil fertility and minimize pest outbreaks by diversifying plant types and disrupting pest life cycles. The diversity in planting helps to prevent the spread of pests and diseases, encourages nutrient cycling, and improves the overall resilience of the farming system. It also ensures that the soil remains productive year after year, supporting our commitment to sustainability.
Organic Fertilization
To enrich our soil, we utilize organic fertilization, using compost and natural inputs that enhance soil health without synthetic chemicals. This practice helps to maintain soil structure, increase microbial activity, and improve the water-holding capacity of the soil. By feeding the soil with organic matter, we promote healthier crop growth and improve the long-term productivity of our farmland. This approach aligns with our commitment to producing high-quality, chemical-free produce that meets international organic standards.
Water Conservation Techniques
Effective water management is vital for sustainable agriculture, especially in regions prone to water scarcity. At NewGen Foods Ltd, we employ various water conservation techniques such as drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and mulching to optimize water use. Drip irrigation delivers water directly to the roots of the plants, reducing evaporation and ensuring efficient use of water. Rainwater harvesting allows us to capture and store rainwater, providing an additional water source during dry periods. Mulching helps to retain soil moisture, reduce erosion, and keep soil temperatures stable. These practices enable us to maintain crop health while conserving a precious natural resource, ensuring that our operations support GEPA’s goals for sustainability and environmentally responsible agriculture.
